The Blooming Artists Project 2017

WELCOME to a new season of The Blooming Artists Project. This year’s exhibition will take place on May 12th, 2017 at 1900 Park Creative Space & Gallery, and is sponsored by Artmart, the Regional Arts Commission, and the Greater Saint Louis Art Association.

We’re getting ready for a new Project!

In our fourth year, The Blooming Artists Project connects student artists from St. Louis school districts, with local master artists . Students in grades 3-12 create works of art in their classroom and submit their photos and statements. Master artists who have made a name for themselves and have influenced art within our community are paired with one of our young artists. The master artist ultimately creates a work of art inspired by the student’s work. The project culminates in a formal gallery exhibition, displaying both the student’s and master’s work side by side. The intent is to show young artists that their ideas have merit and can inspire even seasoned artists. This season of the Project is sponsored by Artmart, the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, and the Greater St. Louis Art Association, and will be held at 1900 Park on May 12th, 2017.

Interview Nights at Armart

screen-shot-2017-01-30-at-7-16-26-amAll of our students and master artists have been notified by Alex Johnmeyer and Marilyn Callahan,  and will soon be meeting for the first time on Interview Night! On February 21st and 22nd, Artmart has offered to host The Blooming Artists Project in their studio space. This year we have 34 students, and so we will be dividing Interview Night into two nights. That’s nearly twice as many students as we have had in the past! We are so excited for our student and master artists to finally meet, discuss, and share their inspirations, backgrounds and influences.

The master artists will then have two months to create an artwork inspired by their student’s piece. Our opening reception will be on May 12th at 1900 Park in Lafayette Square.
